Point locations and descriptions of quantitative Interim Instream Flow Standards (IIFS) for Hawaiian streams as of October 2024. Description: The Interim Instream Flow Standard is the quantity or flow of water or depth of water which is required to be present at a specific location in a stream system at certain specified times of the year to protect fishery, wildlife, recreational, aesthetic, scenic, and other beneficial instream uses. Under the State Water Code (Code), Chapter 174C, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), the Commission on Water Resource Management (Commission) has the responsibility of establishing IIFS on a stream-by-stream basis whenever necessary to protect the public interest in the waters of the State.
