Description: Zoning designations for the County of Maui created from various Land Zoning Maps and comprehensive zoning ordinances current as of July 2025. Where zoning lines follow parcel boundaries, the parcel data layer was used as a background. Due to frequent improvement in the spatial accuracy of the Maui County Real Property Tax’s TMK GIS layer, and the incremental adoption of digital zoning by island, this zoning layer is currently aligned to several parcel layers. This island of Maui is aligned to 2019 parcels, the island of Lana'i to 2020 parcels, and the island of Molokai to 2021 parcels. Each will have alignment issues with subsequent parcel versions. The Department of Planning intends to update and align the zoning layer with a more recent TMK GIS layer, however, does not have an estimated date for completion at this time. Updates to the zoning layer are done in Esri’s ArcGIS software. Digital zoning for the island of Molokai will be added in a future update, upon adoption by Maui County Council. For more information, please refer to metadata at https://files.hawaii.gov/dbedt/op/gis/data/cty_zoning_mau.pdf or contact the Maui County Planning Department at planning@mauicounty.gov or the Hawaii Statewide GIS Program, Office of Planning and Sustainable Development, State of Hawaii; PO Box 2359, Honolulu, Hi. 96804; (808) 587-2846; email: gis@hawaii.gov; Website: https://planning.hawaii.gov/gis.
