Description: In order to help address the State of Hawaii's 2030 Clean Energy Initiative, and meet the State's goal of 70% clean energy by 2030, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District (USACE) received appropriation from Congress in 2009 to initiate a reconnaissance study. The purpose of this study is to identify and assess potential hydropower and ocean energy projects in the State of Hawaii. The goal of this study is to provide information to help the State of Hawaii reach their Clean Energy Initiative goal of 40% percent renewable energy by 2030.
